Brass is a soft material, so it's important to always pre-drill a hole before screwing in a brass screw. Otherwise, there's a high risk that the screw will get hot, twist, and eventually break. We recommend using a drill bit that is 1 mm smaller in diameter than the screw itself. For example, if you have a screw with a 4 mm diameter, we recommend using a 3 mm drill bit.
