Here are tips for achieving a neat inner corner when cutting a crown molding:
Positioning the Molding in the Saw: Start by placing the molding upside down in the saw. The part that will be adjacent to the ceiling should rest against the saw table, as shown in the first image (with the ceiling side marked as "a", and the wall side marked as "b"). Hold the molding in the position in which it will be mounted.
Cutting at 45 Degrees: While holding the molding in position, cut it at a 45-degree angle (refer to image 2). Then do the same for the adjoining piece of crown molding but in the opposite direction. For inner corners, the edge against the ceiling will be shorter than the edge against the wall. Conversely, for outer corners, the edge against the ceiling will be longer, meaning you should place the molding in the saw as it will be mounted on the ceiling (with part "b" against the saw table). All cuts are made inward on the part of the molding that will be mounted.
By following these steps, you can ensure a precise and clean fit for the inner corners of crown molding installations.
